Exciting news! Andy Sheppard was chosen as the recipient of the 2006 Colleen Peterson Songwriting Award, for the song 'Until Next Time'. Andy received the award at the Ontario Council of Folk Festivals conference in Ottawa and performed the winning song at a special showcase. Andy was featured on CBC's Sounds Like Canada today, with Jian Ghomeshi. Andy gave the inaugural radio performance on the Six Sting Nation Guitar. The guitar was conceived by Jowi Taylor and built by master luthier George Rizsanyi. It's fashioned from over sixty pieces of wood, all pieces of Canadian history, including a piece of Pierre Trudeau's canoe paddle, wood from the Bluenose II, and a piece of Maurice Richard's Stanley Cup Ring. The song 'Dragonfly Helicopter' from Andy's upcoming album will be released on the Borealis Records compilation Six Strings North of the Border Vol. 3. Dragonfly Helicopter will be featured alongside music from Harry Manx, Kevin Breit, Grit Laskin, and several other of Canada's best acoustic guitarists. The compilation is set for release in February 2006.
